PIR Pre-insulated Aluminum Duct Sheet

PIR Pre-insulated Aluminum Duct Sheet is a high-performance, composite sandwich panel specifically engineered for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) ductwork systems. It represents a modern alternative to traditional metal ducts combined with separate insulation layers.

PIR Pre-insulated Aluminum Duct Sheet consists of three primary layers bonded together to form a single, rigid sheet.

Core Layer: The core is made of Polyisocyanurate (PIR) foam, a thermoset plastic known for its superior thermal performance and fire-resistant properties. It is characterized by a high closed-cell content (often around 95%), which provides excellent thermal insulation and low moisture absorption.

Facings (Surface Layers) : Both sides of the PIR foam core are laminated with aluminum. Depending on the application, the aluminum can be in the form of a thin foil (e.g., 60 to 80 microns) or a thicker sheet (e.g., 200 microns or more) for enhanced durability. Special options like black aluminum foil or pre-painted galvanized steel (GI) are also available for specific project requirements.

How to make Air Ducts with PIR Pre-insulated Aluminum Duct Sheet

The sheets are delivered to the job site as flat panels. Fabricators then use a simple process to turn them into air ducts:

Tracing & Cutting: The flat sheet is scored and cut according to a duct design layout using a specialized cutter or a CNC machine.

Grooving & Folding: V-shaped grooves are cut at the bend lines, allowing the rigid panel to be folded accurately into a rectangular duct shape.

Gluing & Sealing: The folded flaps are glued together to form the duct. Joints, corners, and seams are then sealed with special aluminum tape and sealants to ensure air-tightness.

Reinforcement: For larger ducts or higher pressures, external profiles or flanges are added to reinforce the structure.
