Pre Insulated Ducting is an integrated HVAC duct with foam insulation and aluminum foil surface. It features low thermal conductivity, light weight and excellent airtightness. Material and Structure Composition of Pre Insulated Ducting
The main core materials are divided into three categories: PIR (polyisocyanurate), PU (polyurethane), and phenolic foam. The panels mostly use 60 or 80μm aluminum foil or aluminum-zinc plated sheets. The entire product is integrated and pressed without any layer separation or detachment risks.
The thickness of the conventional materials ranges from 10mm to 40mm, and for engineering purposes, the common specifications are 20mm, 25mm, and 30mm. The unit weight of the product is only 1.3-1.5kg/㎡. Compared to traditional galvanized iron sheet ducts, it reduces the weight by 70%–80%, significantly reducing the load-bearing capacity of building ceilings and supports, especially suitable for old building renovations and buildings with limited load-bearing capacity. The materials are all fiber-free and dust-free structures, and there will be no problem of loose glass wool or rock wool insulation layers.
Air tightness and operational stability of Pre Insulated Ducting
The product adopts factory-integrated sealing + special splicing rubber strips, ensuring an overall air leakage rate of ≤ 2%, meeting industry standards.
Traditional insulation and wrapping of ducts on-site are prone to gaps, resulting in an air leakage rate generally higher than 8%. The low air leakage rate not only reduces heat / cold loss but also ensures stable air pressure and air volume of the air conditioning supply, making the system operation more balanced.
The product can withstand wind pressure up to 3000Pa, without deformation or cracking under positive or negative wind pressure conditions, and is suitable for high static pressure air supply systems.
Comprehensive Cost and Operation and Maintenance Costs of Pre Insulated Ducting
The short-term material unit price is slightly higher than that of ordinary iron sheets. However, after including the costs of labor, auxiliary materials, and construction period, the overall project cost can be reduced by 10% to 18%.
On one hand, auxiliary materials such as insulation materials, vapor barrier layers, and insulation nails are omitted; on the other hand, the labor hours are significantly reduced.
During the operation and maintenance stage, the product is resistant to aging, moisture, and corrosion. The aluminum foil surface layer can withstand water vapor and coastal salt spray erosion, with a normal service life of over 20 years, which is much longer than that of traditional wrapped insulation air ducts (which tend to deteriorate and break down after 3-5 years). The frequency of later maintenance and replacement is extremely low, and the long-term operation and maintenance cost advantage is significant.
