What is PIR Duct Sheet?

PIR Duct Sheet, formally known as Polyisocyanurate Foam Aluminum Foil Composite Duct Sheet, is an advanced pre-insulated panel engineered for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. It combines a rigid PIR foam core with durable metal facings (typically aluminum foil or coated steel) through a high-pressure lamination process. This innovative material addresses critical challenges in building efficiency-thermal management, fire safety, and installation longevity-making it a cornerstone of modern sustainable HVAC design.

Material Composition and Manufacturing of PIR Duct Sheet:

Core Structure: The PIR foam core is synthesized from polyisocyanurate, a thermoset polymer derived from isocyanurate trimerization. This creates a closed-cell structure with a 95%+ closed-cell rate, minimizing moisture ingress and maximizing thermal resistance.

Facings: The foam is laminated to 0.06mm antimicrobial aluminum foil or 0.18mm coated steel sheets, which provide mechanical protection, vapor barriers, and corrosion resistance. Surface treatments enhance hygiene and prevent microbial growth.

Production Process: PIR reactants are precision-sprayed onto facings, then cured under controlled temperature and pressure. This forms a monolithic bond, ensuring structural integrity and consistent insulation density (48–55 kg/m³).
