Product Structure and Core Materials of PIP Insulation Duct

PIR DUCT FOAM PANEL

The full name of PIP is Pre-Insulated Integrated Duct, which is a prefabricated integrated insulation duct. It has a three-layer sandwich structure. All parameters are based on national standard measured data:


1) Surface layer: Double-sided 60–80μm embossed aluminum foil, waterproof grade IP65, anti-oxidation, and moisture-proof;
2) Core layer: High-density PIR (polyisocyanurate) closed-cell foam, density 50–55kg/m³, closed-cell ratio 98%, thermal conductivity 0.018–0.022W/(m・K), water absorption rate ≤1%;
3) One-piece molding, no need for secondary insulation wrapping on site. The standard size of the finished board is 4000×1200×20/30mm, and it can be cut as needed.


Compared with traditional galvanized iron sheet + glass wool duct: The thermal conductivity of glass wool is 0.032W/(m・K). Under the same insulation thickness, the heat insulation performance of PIP is 37.5% higher.  

Weight, Construction Efficiency and Project Cost of PIP Insulation Duct

1) Weight comparison: The surface density of PIP sheet material is 1.4 kg/㎡; the combined weight of 0.75mm galvanized iron sheet + 25mm glass wool is approximately 2.3 kg/㎡, resulting in a 40% reduction in weight, which lowers the load on the building ceiling and eliminates the need for reinforcing the joists in renovation projects;


2) Construction speed: The modular cutting, bonding and forming process reduces the construction period of the duct system on a single floor to only 1/5 of that of traditional iron sheet ducts. For a 20,000㎡ office building, the traditional duct system construction took 28 days, while the PIP duct system was completed in just 6 days;


3) Labor cost: By eliminating the three processes of iron sheet bending, insulation wrapping and aluminum foil protective layer, the labor cost is reduced by 25%.
The unit price of PIP sheet material is 10% higher than that of glass wool duct system, but considering labor and construction period, the overall project cost is the same or even slightly lower.

1) Air tightness: Special PIR adhesive is used to seal the joint gaps, with the leakage rate far lower than the national standard of 0.06L/(s・㎡); The gaps of traditional iron sheet duct flanges usually exceed the standard by 1-3 times, resulting in a large amount of ineffective energy consumption of air conditioning;


2) Noise reduction: The foam core layer has its own sound absorption function, and the vibration noise of the airflow is reduced by 15-20dB. For small and medium-sized machine rooms, a separate silencer can be omitted, saving ceiling space;


3) Cleanliness: The inner wall is smooth without fiber shedding, and there is no dust dispersion, meeting the GMP food and pharmaceutical cleanroom standards; Glass wool will lose fibers due to long-term air flow impact, polluting the clean area and cannot be used in medical scenarios.
