Measured weight data: PIP sheet metal finished ducts weigh 5–8 kg per square meter; traditional galvanized iron sheets + outer insulation layer ducts weigh 18–22 kg per square meter. The weight of PIP per unit area is only 1/3 of that of metal ducts.


Quantification of construction costs: For a large shopping mall with a 10,000 square meter ventilation network, the total load of metal ducts is approximately 190 tons, while PIP weighs only 65 tons. The design institute needs to thicken the main beams of the ceiling and increase the density of the suspension rods to support the metal ducts. The cost of structural reinforcement increases by 12–18 yuan per square meter; using PIP can eliminate the reinforcement process, and a project of 10,000 square meters directly saves 12–18 ten thousand yuan in construction costs.

Operational energy consumption carbon data: The thermal conductivity of PIP ceramic materials is 0.018–0.022 W/(m・K), the thermal conductivity of the metal duct composite insulation is 0.033 W/(m・K), and the difference in heat loss between hot and cold is 33%. Production and scrap carbon difference: PIP is integrated prefabrication, formed in the factory at one time, and the production carbon emissions are 27% lower than the "single processing of iron sheets + outsourcing of insulation" process; PIP has no metal rusting solid waste, and after scrap, the foam core material can be recycled and reprocessed, while the metal duct rusts and can only be completely discarded, with the carbon emissions from solid waste treatment being 41% higher.

Air tightness maintenance loss: After PIP is spliced and sealed, the leakage rate is ≤ 2% (National Standard Grade 1 standard); the leakage rate of metal ducts with bite seams is 8% - 15%. Leakage will continuously increase the load on the fan, and the metal duct fan will consume 11% more electricity each year, and the monthly electricity cost of the property keeps rising; PIP ducts do not require secondary sealing maintenance within 10 years, while metal ducts need a comprehensive sealing with glue every 2 years, and the single maintenance cost is approximately 0.8 yuan per square meter.


Cleanliness and depreciation period: The closed-cell rate of PIP is over 95%, and the water absorption rate is ≤ 1%. The interior is smooth and free of dust accumulation and mold growth, so hospitals and food workshops do not need additional duct cleaning; the inner wall of metal ducts is prone to accumulate dust and rust, and it needs to be cleaned once every half a year. In terms of asset depreciation, the design depreciation period of metal ducts is 8 years, while PIP ducts can reach 20-30 years, and the cost of financial depreciation allocation decreases by 60%.
