Product Structure and Basic Physics of AluPIR Duct Foam Board

The product adopts a sandwich composite structure of double-sided anti-corrosion aluminum foil and hard PIR foam core material. It comes with an insulation layer when leaving the factory, eliminating the need for secondary insulation coverage on site. It is a specialized board for pre-fabricated HVAC ducts. Core basic parameters: standard size 3950×1200mm or 2900x1200mm, thickness 10–40mm customizable; PIR core density 50–55kg/m³, closed-cell ratio ≥ 95%; double-sided aluminum foil thickness 0.06–0.08mm, surface treated with corrosion-resistant coating; the overall plate density is only 1.3-1.5kg/㎡, and the self-weight is only 30% of the galvanized iron sheet duct plus rock wool insulation system.


The aluminum foil surface layer forms a complete water vapor barrier layer, combined with high closed-cell PIR core material, preventing water vapor penetration and layer separation problems from the structural root; the one-piece molding eliminates thermal bridges, avoiding the heat loss defect at the positions of traditional iron sheet duct flanges and supports, and the structural integrity is superior to the split insulation ducts.

Thermal insulation and energy-saving performance of AluPIR Duct Foam Board

The thermal insulation performance is the core advantage of this product. At a constant temperature of 20℃, the thermal conductivity is stable within the range of 0.018–0.022W/m・K. Compared with mainstream insulation materials in the industry, it has significant advantages: XPS extruded board has a thermal conductivity of 0.033W/m・K, rock wool has 0.040W/m・K, and glass wool has 0.045W/m・K. Taking a 20mm standard AluPIR board as an example, the thermal resistance can reach 0.9㎡・K/W, and the insulation effect is equivalent to that of a 40mm thick rock wool board.


The actual measurement data shows that when using this board to make ventilation ducts, the cooling and heating losses of the air conditioning can be reduced by 18%–28%, and the long-term operating electricity costs can be significantly reduced; the overall heat transfer coefficient of the duct ≤ 0.8W/(㎡・K), meeting the mandatory energy-saving indicators of green buildings as per GB/T 50378-2019, and suitable for low-carbon buildings and near-zero energy consumption project application requirements.

Moisture Resistance, Mold Prevention and Durability of AluPIR Duct Foam Board

The closed-cell structure of PIR core material has an absorption rate of less than 1% (by volume), which is much lower than the 10%+ absorption rate of rock wool; the double-sided aluminum foil completely blocks the moisture in the air, and does not absorb water or expand and deform in long-term high-humidity basements or coastal salt spray environments, eliminating the problem of condensation and dripping on the outer wall of the duct.


The mold prevention grade reaches 0 level, and the antibacterial rate against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus is ≥ 99.5%. There are no harmful substances such as formaldehyde and benzene released. It is suitable for clean ventilation scenarios in hospitals, food workshops, laboratories, etc.; the aluminum foil can withstand salt spray tests for up to 1000 hours, and does not corrode in acidic or alkaline environments. Under normal operating conditions, its service life exceeds 20 years, which is much longer than the 5-8 year aging cycle of rubber and plastic insulation materials, significantly reducing the cost of later duct renovation and maintenance.
