Physical Structure of PID Foam Duct Panel
Core material (functional core): Mainly uses polyurethane (PU) or polyisocyanurate (PIR) rigid foam. PIR outperforms ordinary PU in terms of heat resistance and fire resistance due to its molecular structure containing more isocyanate groups. Its closed-cell ratio is over 95%, which is the structural basis for achieving low water absorption and stable insulation performance.
Face material (protection and structural layer): Double-sided composite aluminum foil or pre-coated galvanized steel sheet (GI Sheet). The inner layer of aluminum foil is smooth and is designed to reduce wind resistance and inhibit bacteria; if a 200-micron GI sheet is used for the outer layer, it significantly enhances impact resistance and weather resistance, and is specifically designed for outdoor or high mechanical stress scenarios.
Data shows: The core material density is usually within the range of 40-55 kg/m³, with compressive strength of approximately 0.2 MPa and bending strength of up to 2 MPa. This ensures that the panel will not deform when subjected to wind pressure (up to 1500 Pa) and during installation and use.
Thermal Performance of PID Foam Duct Panel
This is the core competitiveness of the PID panel. Its energy-saving effect is not solely dependent on thickness, but stems from an extremely low thermal conductivity and overall airtightness.
Thermal conductivity (λ value): The thermal conductivity of PIR foam can be as low as 0.020 W/(m·K), which is much better than that of traditional glass wool (approximately 0.035 - 0.040 W/(m·K)). This means that under the same insulation requirements, the thickness of the PID panel is thinner (commonly 20mm), effectively saving the space of the building ceiling.
Anti-condensation and air tightness: The low thermal conductivity combined with the aluminum foil vapor barrier layer can effectively prevent surface condensation. Meanwhile, the splicing method using special flanges and sealant for connection improves the air tightness by more than 8 times compared to traditional iron sheet ducts, significantly reducing energy loss due to air leakage. This is a key implicit indicator for energy conservation in actual operation.
Installation Logic of PID Foam Duct Panel
Traditional metal ducts require two processes: "fabrication of the duct" and "encapsulation with insulation cotton". However, the PID panel combines these two steps into one.
Process simplification: On-site, only four steps - "scratch - bending - bonding - reinforcement" are required to complete the shaping process, and there is no need for a second insulation operation.
Lightweight advantage: Its weight is only 1/4 to 1/3 of that of traditional iron sheet ducts. This feature not only reduces the requirements for the load-bearing capacity of the building structure, but also significantly decreases the difficulty of high-altitude operations and labor costs. Taking the loading capacity of a 40-foot-high container as an example, it can accommodate approximately 660 standard panels (3.95 meters long). The efficient logistics data further confirms its lightweight characteristic.
