Product Definition and Structure

PID Duct, namely Pre-Insulated Duct, is a key innovative product in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. Its structure usually adopts a sandwich design, with polyisocyanurate (PIR) foam or phenolic foam, etc. as the core insulation layer.

 

Take PIR foam as an example. It is sandwiched between two layers of aluminum foil. The aluminum foil not only enhances the stability of the overall structure but also further improves the heat insulation capacity. For instance, common specifications include 3950mm * 1200mm * 20mm. Such size designs are convenient for transportation and installation. ​

 

Performance advantage

Excellent heat insulation performance: The PID Duct made of PIR foam has a low thermal conductivity, generally ranging from 0.022 to 0.026W/m · K. This means that under the same conditions, the amount of heat transferred through the PID Duct is very small, which can effectively reduce the cold and heat loss of the air conditioning system, maximize the utilization of the capacity of the air handling unit, improve energy efficiency and reduce operating costs. ​

 

High air tightness: Combined with special connection and reinforcement accessories, the air tightness of the PID Duct system far exceeds that of traditional air ducts. For instance, its air tightness is more than eight times that of traditional air ducts, effectively preventing air leakage and ensuring the efficient operation of the HVAC system. ​

 

Excellent fire resistance performance: The PID Duct with PIR foam as the insulation layer has self-extinguishing foam itself and can automatically stop burning when exposed to a fire source. The PID Duct made of phenolic foam has more outstanding fire resistance performance and generates very little smoke and toxic gases at high temperatures.

Lightweight and easy to install: Compared with metal air ducts, PID ducts are extremely light in weight, which reduces the load-bearing pressure on the building structure and support points, and lowers the labor and material costs required for installation. Meanwhile, it can be conveniently processed into various shapes on the construction site, reducing transportation costs. ​

 

Hygiene and aesthetics: The interior of the air duct is made of aluminum, ensuring good hygiene and cleanliness conditions, making it less likely to breed bacteria and other microorganisms. It has an attractive appearance and is suitable for fields with high hygiene requirements such as the food industry. ​
