The traditional perception often regards PUR duct panels as a kind of "advanced insulation material". However, their core value lies in the "pre-insulation" system thinking. Traditional metal ducts are "manufacturing the pipes first, then adding insulation", completing the two processes of pipe formation and external insulation on-site. This involves a large amount of human error, cold bridge risks, and time loss.

 

In contrast, the PUR duct panels integrate the structural framework of the duct and the insulation layer in the factory. Its three-layer structure - aluminum foil / polyurethane foam / aluminum foil - forms a complete composite system.

 

This integrated logic transforms the duct from a "site-made product" into a "pre-fabricated component", increasing installation efficiency by 40%-50%. One person can install 50-80 square meters per day. This is not a victory of material performance, but an evolution of engineering organization methods.

Perspective 2: Balancing "Maximum Energy Efficiency" and "Realistic Costs"

 

The PUR core's closed-cell structure and extremely low thermal conductivity (≤ 0.022 W/(m·K)) result in remarkable insulation performance, equivalent to 1.8 times that of traditional glass wool under the same thickness. However, what is more worthy of attention is the cost trade-off throughout the entire lifecycle. Just looking at the unit price of the panels, PUR may be higher than the combination of traditional iron sheets and insulation cotton. But when the installation labor cost is reduced by 40%, the loss of auxiliary materials, the reduction in building load (weight only 1/3 of traditional ducts), and the 20%-30% energy savings during the operation over a 20-30-year lifespan are all taken into account, the conclusion will fundamentally change.

 

It exchanges the "premium" in the early stage for the "low maintenance" and "low energy consumption" in the later stage. This is the fulfillment of the long-term investment logic. Especially when facing increasingly strict building carbon emission regulations, this implicit value is accelerating its explicitation.

Perspective 3: Selection of PUR and PIR - Fine Matching of Performance Gradient

Although often mentioned together, PUR and PIR (polyisocyanurate) are not exactly the same. PIR is an upgraded version of PUR, with a more cross-linked molecular structure, which brings two key differences: a higher fire safety level (PIR can meet stricter smoke toxicity standards) and superior high-temperature stability (with a higher upper limit for long-term use temperature). However, the cost of PIR is also 10%-15% higher. This provides designers with a refined selection gradient: for standard office and commercial projects, PUR can already perform perfectly; while for high-rise buildings, data centers, etc., which have extremely high requirements for fire safety, PIR is a more safety-redundant option. This differentiation within the material spectrum enables the technical solution to more accurately match the risk level and budget constraints.

 

Through structural integration, performance optimization, and full-cycle cost management, it recalibrates the "efficient, safe, and economical" triangle balance of the HVAC system.
