A PU Pre-insulated Ducting Panel is a modern, sandwich-type panel used to construct heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) ductwork. It consists of a rigid polyurethane (PU) foam core bonded between two layers of protective material, typically aluminum foil.
Its main advantages over traditional sheet metal ducts are superior thermal efficiency, lighter weight, and faster installation .
Core Composition
The panel's performance is defined by its three layers:
Insulating Core (PU): The core is made of rigid polyurethane (PU) foam. PU Foam offers better thermal efficiency. This core provides exceptional thermal insulation with a thermal conductivity (λ-value) 0.020W/m·K.
Inner and Outer Facings: The core is laminated with facings that provide strength, a smooth surface for airflow, and protection. The standard choice is aluminum foil (usually 60 or 80 microns for interiors, or up to 200 microns for better durability). For external or more demanding applications, galvanized or pre-painted steel sheets are used.
Sandwich Structure: This composite structure gives the panel its rigidity and mechanical strength, allowing it to be fabricated into ducts of various shapes.
