Material Performance of PU Air Duct

PU Air Alu Sheet

The PU duct uses hard polyurethane closed-cell foam as the core material, with a double-sided aluminum foil protective layer. The core physical indicators are industry-leading.

 

Firstly, in terms of insulation performance, the thermal conductivity of PU foam is only 0.018~0.024 W/(m・K), compared with XPS extruded board's 0.028~0.035 W/(m・K) and glass wool's 0.047 W/(m・K), under the same insulation effect, a 25mm PU board is equivalent to a 45mm glass wool board and a 40mm XPS board. The heat loss of the air conditioning pipeline can be controlled within 2%, and the energy consumption of the unit can be reduced by 12% to 18% over the long term.

 

Secondly, in terms of moisture resistance and waterproofing, the closed-cell rate of PU is ≥ 90%, and the 24-hour absorption rate is only 1.9%, which is much lower than the 35% absorption rate of ordinary rock wool ducts. In humid scenarios such as coastal areas, kitchens, and swimming pools, mold will not grow, and the insulation layer will not fail. The theoretical service life can reach 25 years, while traditional iron sheet-encased insulation ducts only have a lifespan of 10 to 15 years.

Construction and Installation of of PU Air Duct

The traditional galvanized iron sheet ducts require three steps: cutting and beading, external glass wool insulation, and sealing with adhesive tape. The labor and material costs are high.

The PU prefabricated insulation duct is integrated and formed in one step, with its own insulation layer, eliminating the need for a secondary insulation process.

Weight comparison data: For a 300mm diameter duct, the iron sheet weighs 8-10kg per meter, while the PU duct weighs only 2-3kg. A single person can handle and install it, eliminating the need for heavy climbing equipment, reducing labor costs by over 40%. The sealing performance is remarkable. PU uses the same source foam adhesive for splicing, filling seamlessly, with a leakage rate of less than 2%; the iron sheet flange duct has approximately 200 joints for 500 meters, with a leakage rate generally ranging from 10% to 15%, directly increasing the air conditioning load.

 the panels can be cut into custom-shaped elbows and diameters on-site, reducing the prefabrication processing steps, with the construction waste loss rate controlled within 3%, and the iron sheet duct's waste loss can reach 12%. For large commercial complexes and factory projects, the comprehensive construction cost can be reduced by 25% to 30%.
