Preheating aluminum foil PIR duct board is a specialized integrated insulation duct board for HVAC systems. It uses high closed-cell PIR rigid foam as the core material and is pre-processed with a double-sided aluminum foil surface layer on both sides.
The product has a thermal conductivity as low as 0.022W/(m・K), featuring excellent insulation, fire resistance, moisture resistance, and corrosion resistance. The formed ducts have strong air tightness and extremely low heat loss.
The board is lightweight and high-strength. There is no need for secondary insulation on site. Installation is efficient and convenient, which can significantly reduce air conditioning energy consumption. It is an energy-saving upgrade alternative to traditional ducts.

Polyisocyanurate(PIR) Foam Pre-Insulated HVAC Ductwork Panel is a high-performance, all-in-one solution designed for modern heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Built with a precision-engineered sandwich structure, it features a dense Polyisocyanurate(PIR) foam core-celebrated for its exceptional thermal insulation properties-sandwiched between two protective layers of corrosion-resistant aluminum foil. This factory-prefabricated panel merges insulation, structural strength, and airtightness into a single component, eliminating the need for separate insulation installation and streamlining ductwork setup in diverse buildings.

Pre-insulated Aluminum PIR Duct Panel

PU duct panels and PIR duct panels have the following differences:

1. Composition:

PU duct panels: Made of polyurethane, which is synthesized by the reaction between a diisocyanate or a polymeric isocyanate containing two or more isocyanate groups and a macromolecular compound having active hydrogen atoms.

PIR duct panels: Made of polyisocyanurate foam. It is formed by the reaction of isocyanate with polyether under the action of a catalyst1. The ratio of polyol to isocyanate in PIR panels is different from that in PU panels, which affects their performance.

 

2. Insulation Properties:

PU duct panels: The thermal conductivity is generally 0.02 - 0.022 W/mK at 25 °C.

PIR duct panels: The thermal conductivity can be as low as 0.018 - 0.019 W/mK at 25 °C, which is lower than that of PU panels, so PIR panels have better thermal insulation performance.

 

3. Fire Resistance:

PU duct panels: Generally have lower fire resistance. They can ignite at lower temperatures and release more toxic gases when exposed to fire. Usually, they are of B3 grade, and can reach B2 grade by adding flame retardants.

PIR duct panels: Have better fire resistance properties. They can withstand higher temperatures before ignition and produce fewer toxic fumes when exposed to flames. Generally, they are of B2 grade, and can reach B1 grade by adjusting the concentration of the polyisocyanurate ring and other formulation techniques.

 

4. Moisture Resistance:

PU duct panels: Have moderate moisture resistance. The water absorption rate is 2.5% - 3%. They have a low tolerance for moisture, and water infiltration can lead to damage and a decrease in thermal insulation performance.

PIR duct panels: Have better moisture resistance. The water absorption rate can reach 0.9%. Their closed - cell structure makes them more resistant to moisture, which is suitable for areas with high humidity levels.

 

5. Density and Structural Properties:

PU duct panels: The density is generally 35 - 45 kg/m³, and the compressive strength is 150 - 200 kPa.

PIR duct panels: The density is generally 45 - 55 kg/m³, and the compressive strength is 250 - 300 kPa. PIR panels have a higher compressive strength, which means they can withstand higher loads and pressures without deformation.

Thermal insulation and energy saving: With an extremely low thermal conductivity, it effectively blocks the transfer of heat and cold, resulting in an energy-saving rate of 20%-30% for the air conditioning system. The long-term operating cost is significantly reduced.
Fire safety: The core material has a flame retardant grade of B1, which extinguishes the fire on its own, produces no molten droplets, and emits little smoke. It only carbonizes at high temperatures without spreading, meeting the fire safety requirements for public and industrial buildings.
Moisture resistance and corrosion resistance: The closed-cell structure has an absorption rate of less than 1%, and the aluminum foil is resistant to acids and alkalis and does not rust, eliminating condensation and mold, and suitable for high-humidity and clean environments.
Mechanical reliability: The board has good bending and compression resistance, and its weight is only 1/6 - 1/10 of that of traditional iron sheet ducts, reducing the building load and minimizing transportation and construction losses.
