PIR Pre-insulated Ducting Panels are a modern, composite material used to construct heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) ductwork. They consist of a rigid polyisocyanurate (PIR) foam core bonded to metal facings, typically aluminum foil or galvanized steel, offering a high-performance alternative to traditional sheet metal ducts.

How to make Air Ducts with PIR Pre-insulated Ducting Panel

The fabrication process is a key part of using this system. Standard tools and accessories are used to transform flat panels into a duct network:

Cutting & Grooving: Panels are measured and cut to size. A special grooving tool is used to cut a "V" groove into the insulation layer on the back of the panel, allowing it to be folded.

Folding & Gluing: The panel is folded along the groove to form the duct shape (e.g., rectangle). A special adhesive is applied to the joint to bond the two faces together permanently.

Taping & Sealing: All seams and joints are sealed with a specialized aluminum tape to ensure the duct is airtight.

Joining: Individual duct sections are connected using flanges (PVC, aluminum) or other joining profiles, and sealed with silicone to prevent air leakage.
