PIP Ventilation Duct Panel
PIP Ventilation Duct Panel is integrated pre-insulated sandwich board with double-sided embossed aluminum foil and high-density closed-cell PIR foam core. It features ultra-low thermal conductivity, Class B1 fire resistance, lightweight structure and ultra-low air leakage. No secondary on-site insulation needed, widely used in HVAC, clean rooms, hospitals and commercial ventilation to cut energy loss and shorten construction period.

Product Structure and Physical Properties of PIP Ventilation Duct Panel

PIP stands for Pre-Insulated Panel, which is a pre-insulated integrated air duct panel. It has a standard sandwich composite structure: double-sided embossed aluminum foil (thickness 60/80μm) + high-density PIR (polyisocyanurate) closed-cell foam core material (standard board thickness 10/20/25/30/40mm, core material density 50kg/m³). It is factory-manufactured and formed in one step without the need for secondary insulation cotton wrapping on-site.
Core measured data: closed-cell ratio over 95%, water absorption rate ≤ 1% (24-hour immersion), thermal conductivity 0.018~0.022W/(m・K); surface material wind pressure resistance ≥ 1500Pa, ultimate pressure-bearing capacity 2500Pa, suitable for regular air supply wind speeds of 0~12m/s.
Weaknesses compared: The panel has strong rigidity and cannot be bent on-site. Special-shaped elbows and diameter changes need to be cut and prefabricated in advance. The adaptability of complex curved surface air ducts is weaker than that of fiberglass soft air ducts.
Energy conservation and airtight of PIP Ventilation Duct Panel
Integrated insulation is the core advantage. Traditional galvanized iron sheet ducts require on-site outsourcing of 20mm glass wool, with a thermal conductivity of 0.033W/(m・K). The insulation performance is 30% lower than that of PIP; under the same length of ducts in summer cooling conditions, the cold and heat losses of PIP ducts are reduced by 20% to 30%, and the annual electricity savings of a 10,000-square-meter commercial complex central air conditioning system is approximately 12,000 kWh.
Air tightness test: The leakage rate of standard flange connection is ≤0.5%. The leakage limit of standard galvanized iron sheet ducts is 5% to 10%. This significantly reduces the ineffective energy consumption of the fan; the aluminum foil is fully enclosed to isolate water vapor, eliminating condensation and dripping on the outer wall, and eliminating the need for the insulation waterproof protection layer construction. The ventilation system in damp basements and swimming pools has significant advantages.

Service Life and Full Lifecycle of PIP Ventilation Duct Panel

Natural aging test: In an indoor dry environment, the normal service life is over 20 years; in a humid corrosive environment, it is 15 years. Galvanized iron sheet ducts without anti-corrosion treatment will rust and perforate within 6 to 8 years, while fiberglass ducts will powder and crack after 10 years. The PIP aluminum foil surface material is IP65 waterproof and resistant to weak acid mist, and the maintenance cycle in chemical workshops and underground garages is significantly extended.
Operation and maintenance cost: The inner wall is smooth without rust layer, and the wind resistance is 12% lower than that of iron sheet ducts. The fan operates at a low load for a long time; there are no rust debris or fiber accumulation, and the frequency of wind duct cleaning is reduced from 2 times per year to 1 time per year, resulting in a 50% reduction in annual operation and maintenance costs.
Long-term disadvantages: After damage, it cannot be repaired locally; a single sheet needs to be replaced as a whole; the cost of maintenance materials in the later stage is higher than local welding of iron sheet ducts.
