It is a high-performance ventilation duct product, which is widely used in HVAC systems. The following is a detailed introduction:

 

Basic Structure: It is a sandwich structured panel. The core is polyisocyanurate (PIR) foam, which is a closed-cell insulating material. The two outer layers are aluminum sheets or aluminum foils.

Thermal insulation: The thermal conductivity of the core foam base material is extremely low (for example, polyurethane foam λ≤0.024W/(m · K)), naturally possessing thermal insulation capabilities, and there is no need to wrap it with additional insulation cotton like iron sheet air ducts. ​

 

Sound insulation and noise reduction: The porous structure of the foam can absorb the noise generated by the vibration of the airflow. The operating noise of the air duct is 5-10dB (decibels) lower than that of the iron sheet air duct. ​

 

Anti-corrosion and sealing performance: The surface aluminum foil protective layer is resistant to acids and alkalis and anti-aging, solving the pain points of traditional iron sheet air ducts that are prone to rust and corrosion (especially in damp or corrosive gas environments such as kitchens and laboratories).

 

At the same time, the interfaces are sealed with special glue or clips, and the system's air leakage rate is ≤2% (far lower than the 8%-12% of iron sheet air ducts), significantly enhancing the ventilation efficiency. ​

Installation and Construction of Rigid Foam Duct

 

Lightweight and easy to handle: Its weight is only 1/5 to 1/3 of that of iron sheet air ducts (about 3 to 8kg/m²), and it can be moved manually without the need for heavy equipment such as cranes. It is especially suitable for narrow operation Spaces such as the renovation of old buildings and high-rise ceilings, reducing transportation and hoisting costs by more than 40%. ​

 

Modular splicing: Mostly factory prefabricated standardized components (such as straight pipes, elbows, tees), which are spliced on site with special glue or clips, without the need for welding or drilling. The construction speed is 2-3 times faster than that of traditional iron sheet air ducts. Take the installation of 1,000 square meters of building air ducts as an example. The traditional method takes 7 to 10 days, while the rigid foam air duct only needs 3 to 5 days, which can shorten the project period. ​

Cost and Operation and Maintenance of Rigid Foam Duct

Initial cost: Although the material cost per meter is 10% to 20% higher than that of iron sheet air ducts, it saves the cost of purchasing and installing insulation layers (accounting for about 30% of the total cost of iron sheet air ducts), and the labor cost is reduced by 50%. The overall initial investment is basically the same as that of iron sheet air ducts, and for some large-scale projects, it is even lower. ​

 

Long-term operation and maintenance: Its corrosion resistance enables its service life to reach 15-20 years (about 8-12 years for iron sheet air ducts), during which there is no need for regular rust removal or painting as with iron sheet air ducts. The low air leakage and low energy consumption features can also save the operating costs of air conditioners every year. In the long run, the cost performance advantage is significant. ​

Environmentally friendly materials: The mainstream products adopt a fluorine-free foaming process and do not contain Freon that damages the ozone layer. They comply with the national "Environmental Protection Standard for Building Materials" and can help buildings obtain green ratings such as LEED and Green Building One-star. ​

 

Safety and flame retardancy: By adding flame retardants, the combustion performance can reach B1 grade (difficult to ignite), with low smoke density and no release of toxic gases during combustion, meeting the requirements of the "Code for Fire Protection Design of Buildings", and is suitable for densely populated places such as shopping malls and schools. ​
