Definition and Overview of Pre-insulated PID Duct
Pre-insulated PID Duct, also known as pre-insulated air duct, is an advanced ventilation duct system that integrates insulation materials with the structure of the air duct in advance.
It has revolutionized the traditional model of installing pipes first and then conducting insulation treatment for air ducts, significantly enhancing installation efficiency and system performance. It is widely applied in the ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) field of modern buildings.
Structural Analysis of Pre-insulated PID Duct
(1.) Insulation layer: Closed-cell foam materials such as polyurethane (PU) or polyisocyanurate (PIR) are mostly used. For instance, the density of PU foam is often 50kg/m³. These materials have extremely low thermal conductivity. The thermal conductivity of PU can reach 0.022W/m · K, which can effectively prevent heat transfer and reduce the energy consumption of air conditioning systems.
(2.) Inner and outer protective layers
The inner side is often made of smooth aluminum foil. In places with high requirements for air cleanliness such as clean rooms, it can prevent dust accumulation and ensure air cleanliness.
The exterior is selected based on the usage scenario. For the interior, 60-micron embossed aluminum foil is generally used, which takes into account both aesthetics and a certain degree of protection. Outdoors or in places with high strength requirements, 180-micron smooth aluminum plates or pre-painted galvanized steel plates are used to enhance wind resistance and corrosion resistance.
