The central air conditioning system usually occupies 25% to 40% of the available space within the building ceiling. The traditional iron sheet duct + external insulation layer solution typically has a total thickness of: the inner diameter of the duct + 30-50mm of glass wool or rubberized insulation on both sides. While the pre-insulated duct sheet, using a common 20mm thickness as an example, is both the structural layer and the insulation layer itself.

Data Comparison: Taking the standard main air duct with dimensions of 2000mm × 630mm as an example, the outer envelope width of the traditional solution (inner diameter + 2 × 40mm insulation) is 710mm, and the height is 340mm. However, the outer envelope width of the pre-insulated sheet (20mm thick) is only 670mm, and the height is 300mm. A single main air duct can save approximately 40mm × 2000mm of cross-sectional area. In a 30-story high-rise office building, a cumulative total of about 6%-8% of the ceiling clear height can be released.

Most materials only mention "reducing noise", but do not analyze the spectral changes. The core material of the pre-insulated board (such as polyurethane or phenolic) is a closed-cell foam structure. It has a significant absorption and dissipation effect on high-frequency noise (such as the vortex noise generated by the fan blades, with a frequency band above 1000Hz), while it has a stronger penetrating effect on low-frequency rumbling (below 125Hz).

Experimental data: Under the same wind speed (6m/s), the internal noise of the traditional iron sheet duct is 78 dB(A), with a sharp frequency spectrum; the measured internal noise of the pre-insulated duct is 62 dB(A), and the high-frequency components have attenuated by more than 40%. More importantly, the damping coefficient of the pre-insulation board (the loss factor tanδ can reach 0.15-0.2) reduces the vibration amplitude of the duct wall by two orders of magnitude compared to the iron sheet (tanδ ≈ 0.001).
