Core Functional Layer (Phenolic Foam Core)
Main raw materials: Phenolic resin (phenol-formaldehyde copolymer), low-ODS foaming agent (e.g., cyclopentane), curing agent (e.g., organic acid), and flame-retardant additive.
Characteristic: Closed-cell structure formed by foaming and curing; serves as the core insulation and fire-resistant layer.
Pre-insulation Enhancement Layer
Common components: Glass wool mat or rigid polyurethane foam (thin layer).
Function: Assists the phenolic foam core in improving thermal insulation continuity, reducing cold/heat bridge effects.
Inner Protective Layer (Airflow Contact Side)
Typical materials: Aluminum foil (food-grade, corrosion-resistant), galvanized steel sheet (thin-gauge, ≥0.3mm), or modified PVC film.
Role: Ensures smooth airflow (low friction), prevents core material erosion by moisture/air impurities, and enhances corrosion resistance.
Outer Protective Layer (Environmental Contact Side)
Common options: Color-coated steel plate (polyester/fluorocarbon coating), FRP (fiber-reinforced plastic), or aluminum composite panel.
Function: Resists outdoor/indoor mechanical impact, UV aging, and moisture penetration; protects the inner insulation structure.
Adhesive Layer (Between Layers)
Material: High-temperature resistant polyurethane adhesive or epoxy resin adhesive.
Requirement: Non-toxic, low VOC; ensures strong bonding between core, inner, and outer layers (peel strength ≥0.15 MPa).
Performance Advantages of UNT Pre-insulated Phenolic Duct Panel
(1.) Outstanding thermal insulation performance: The thermal conductivity of phenolic duct board is extremely low, only 0.016-0.036W/(m · k), which is much lower than that of traditional galvanized steel plate ducts and fiberglass reinforced plastic ducts. When transporting the same amount of heat (cold), the heat dissipation loss of galvanized steel plate air ducts is 15%, that of fiberglass reinforced plastic air ducts is 8%, while that of phenolic foam insulated material air ducts is less than 2%.
(2.) Lightweight and convenient: The phenolic aluminum foil composite air duct is very light, approximately 1.4kg/㎡. In contrast, the density of galvanized steel plate air ducts (0.8mm thick) is 7.08kg/㎡, and that of fiberglass reinforced plastic air ducts (3mm thick) is 15-20kg /㎡.
(3.) Durable: Traditional galvanized steel plates are prone to rust and corrosion in damp environments, resulting in a shortened service life. Fiberglass reinforced plastic is prone to aging and damage. The service life of phenolic aluminum foil composite air ducts is at least 20 years or more, which is more than three times that of traditional air ducts.
