UNT Pipe Insulation is a closed-cell rigid phenolic foam insulation supplied in the form of large buns for fabrication into pipe shells, curved segments, sheets, tank and vessel coverings, and other shapes for a variety of thermal insulation applications. It has a very low (good) thermal conductivity and an exceptionally low flammability. These properties make UNT Phenolic Insulation the ideal material for use as pipe insulation on chilled water lines operating in the air plenums of commercial buildings where flammability is the greatest concern but energy efficiency is still important and governed by codes. UNT rigid phenolic insulation is based on patented technology. Whilst retaining all the benefits of rigid  polyurethane and rigid polyisocyanurate insulation, UNT rigid phenolic insulation has a far superior resistance to burning and spread of flame, and the lowest thermal conductivity of any commonly available insulant at 0.021w/m·K. UNT Phenolic Foam Pipe Insulation are fire resistant pipe sections or pipe supports made of non-flammable, superior rigid insulation material. UNT Pipe sections can be used for heat and temperature insulation in any industry. The Insulated pipes are faced with a factory-applied aluminum foil vapor barrier jacket adhesively bonded to the insulation core during manufacture.

UNT Phenolic Foam Pipe Insulation is available in a range of thicknesses to suit different performance specifications and may be used on mild steel, stainless steel, copper and plastic pipework in standard and non-standard pipe diameters. UNT Phenolic Foam Pipe insulation is available in a standard density of 40 kg/m3. Higher density pipe insulation sections and insulated pipe supports fabricated in 50 kg/m3, 80 kg/m3, 100 kg/m3 and 160kg/m3 densities are also available upon special request.

UNT high–density rigid phenolic insulation is used in the manufacture of insulated pipe support inserts. Its greater density gives it much higher compressive strength and rigidity whilst retaining its far superior resistance to burning and spread of flame, making it an ideal insulation material for load bearing applications.

UNT rigid phenolic insulation and UNT high-density rigid phenolic insulation are entirely CFC/HCFC–free with zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP). They have been developed to provide optimum performance with regards to insulation efficiency, fire resistance, low smoke emission, compressive strength, environment, health, safety and cost.

UNT rigid phenolic insulation and UNT high-density rigid phenolic insulation have gained a reputation for quality and consistency, a reputation that has spread worldwide.

UNT Phenolic Foam Pipe Sections are cost effective and better than conventional insulation materials because of various distinct properties like Low K Value, highest fire rating standards with 100% fire retardance, correction & chemical resistance and tested as per BS standards. 

Benifits of UNT Phenolic Foam Pipe insulation:

1. Moisture Resistance: phenolic insulation has a 95% (or greater) closed cell content, which makes it non–wicking and highly resistant to moisture penetration. This is particularly valuable in humid conditions where the build up of moisture can compromise the performance of lesser insulation materials. It is an ideal insulation material for cold, chilled and low temperature hot water pipework.

2. Fire Performance: the core material phenolic foam is far superior to that of any other cellular plastic insulation material, regardless of facing type.

3. Thermal Performance: UNT rigid phenolic insulation has a thermal conductivity of 0.021 W/m·K whick allows specified thermal performance standards to be achieved with a minimal thickness of insulation. This is particularly significant where space saving is important.

4. Hygiene: UNT rigid phenolic insulation and UNT high-density rigid phenolic insulation are resistant to fungus

and mould growth, will not sustain vermin and are non–fibrous, odourless and non–tainting.

Application of UNT Phenolic Foam Pipe insulation:

UNT rigid phenolic insulation and UNT high–density rigid phenolic insulation are lightweight, easy to

transport, handle and install. They are specified for use on building services / HVAC projects including:

● public sector non residential (health, education, leisure); and

● private sector non residential (hotels, casinos, offices, commercial and public buildings).

In particular, UNT rigid phenolic insulation and UNT High–Density rigid phenolic insulation are used to insulate clean or sterile areas of hospitals and controlled environments, where hygiene is high priority and non–mineral fibre products are preferred.
